Pavarotti was hands down a wonderful tenor. I hope Grady Harp lets him rest in peace, and even more so that JP Picks doesn't do his customary Uriah Heep number about Grady's turning him on, through what I fear is a forthcoming "streamlined" Harp review, to an artist he'd never heard of but probably should have. By the way, Barbara, for the record the aria is "Nessun Dorma."
Typos are my downfall. I try to be vigilant when commenting on Amazon because when I've allowed them to slip through at that site it's immediately been greeted by a chorus of trolls singing the aria "You're No Better than Harriet". Have you heard that piece? It's quite lovely...if you enjoy screeching and howling.
You can't really think GH would allow such a golden opportunity to exhibit his operatic appreciation skills to go by, this is tailor made for his type of reviewing. And JP Picks will undoubtedly be there as well, expressing his gushing thanks to Grady Harp, without whom his life would be immeasurably poorer.
Speaking of banality, does anybody know what Harp means when he says the "Turandot" featuring Pavarotti is conducted by Zubin Mehta "with the gentlest of mysterious backgrounds?" Do these replace the baton? Further, when Harp singles out Mehta, former director of both the Los Angeles and the New York Philharmonic Orchestras, as the "model accompanist," is he aware he's damning this hardly reticent or star-struck conductor with faint praise? I doubt it.
By the way, though Harp himself has weighed in, JP Picks has yet to appear to entertain us. I sort of do miss his comments. They are the too sugary icing on the stale cake of a Harp obit.
Oh, he's been back... 'course now that The Ghost made his appearance, there's less need for JP Picks's Quality Comments(tm). The Ghost leaves fantastic Quality Comments(tm), JP Picks got nothing on 'im.
Damn straight! The Ghost's observations put JP Pick's to shame, giving us all lessons in how to out-toady a toady. Added to this is the bonus of some "flirtatious" comments directed toward, of all people, MM (Marie). The consequence of these is that the incomprehensible lady in her comments has for the moment abandoned her customary jabberwocky style. Hurrah to Casper!

Don't you mean "peace"? Our local radio station is playing his well-known aria Nessum Dorma now.

Stanley, the correct form is: didn't but should have [participle]. Didn't heard but should have hear sorta thing.
Well, Malleus, you certainly know your Grady Harp. It's there now for your reading pleasure in all of it's banal glory.
Malleus:
"Didn't (heard) but should have heard"... You have mastered the nuances of J P Picks' style! LOL.
