It's time for another mid-month update on Fraud Hattie's
antics. BTW, what's up with Dump Day Tuesday's lately, only averaging 3 per
DDT?

Ammy deleted this post, and, a few monutes later, put it back out there, maybe they didn't like the Fraud word and then decided that's ok?
Buck210,
Who knows? I wondered about that last week when it happened to me, but my post was pretty innocuous.
Great job once again on the stats, although I haven't checked ALL your numbers yet. :-)

My guess it was not Amz who deleted your post. The site is very manipulable, it's just only the "professionals" have the desire to find out how it works and then use it: I think if you click like a million times on the "report this" button, the comment gets deleted automatically. I seem to remember testing it in the past, but I could not achieve a consistent result, so I remain in the dark as to the exact workings of it, but in general, a number of clicks (I think 11) gets the comment blown away. Not always though, so perhaps in some cases a human takes a peek, who knows...
One thing to remember, always: Amz's system is mostly on autopilot (you can't put enough humans to watch billions of comments and reviews all the time). Amz does not disclose how their algorithms work, but out of my long-term observations, my general impression was that the thing is very manipulable, and that the shills/authors/publishers know how to put all "glitches" to good use. Sometimes Amz "fixes" the most egregious of these "glitches" (is it egregiousness, though? Maybe the "fix" the ones that the public becomes aware of...), thus we have this "fan" system whereby they alleviate the massive-vote campaigns. But overall, we don't know how things work -- a few examples: we know that now and then our dear Harriet likes to drop some verbal bombs, like the f-word, and that if you tried, you'd fail as it is a "forbidden" word the posting software checks for.
Bottom line: whatever happens, do not assume that a live employee of Amz did it. A lot, I suspect, happens automatically. For example, over the years a number of my reviews were disappeared. Initially I thought it's Amz and there's nothing to be done. Then I once sent them a note, and lo and behod, the response was that the review was removed "in error", and the review was then restored by Amz. So, I gotta guess, they let the shills manipulate the site, but are willing to "undo" their most rabid action, relying on the fact that most people will not attempt to ask them for such, thinking that everything is a deliberate action by Amz and that they cannot do anything about it. Not so!
I've still never actually had a comment deleted (to my knowledge), just one incident where I think there was a computer error. The comment showed up again in seconds without me having to do anything.
I haven't taken any huge risks, though. Sometimes I'm a little crude but I guess I mostly stick to making fun of Hattie's English prowess. Well, except for the 3-part story and a couple of off-topic discussions with Sara and Bev.
I think the Hattie defenders haven't been out in force for awhile. I get 1 or 2 negative votes on my comments from time to time, but you all up-vote the rest of them enough that they don't even get hidden.
