Is it just me, or are the comments getting nastier?

Just wondering, I have been looking at the postings today on the new HK reviews (and the older ones), and there is a decidedly nasty tone on many of them. Not you Sus, but FTF especially. I saw one that knocked the book too. Thoughts?

I really think that there are people posting who only desire to hurt others. Most of the
"troubling new comers" are really angry sounding, and I do not think that they care about the reason our group is posting our comments. The new posters just seem to want to fight, and to possibly scare other posters away.......

Gee whiz.........How did that happen? I did not mean to post my comment 3 times! Sorry guys......

Dear Moderator, How do I post? I've got the "comment thingie" down pat ;>), but I do not remember how to post! Thanks.....

Sus, at the top right corner of the page there is an option to post. That should get you there.

Can you delete your extra comments? If not, I can.

Man if these people were in a room there would be major bloodshed!
I think it is getting beyond nasty between some of these people. 84 comments on one review alone!
I wonder if it is really good to have the comment button for reviews?
That's why I don't post over on Amazon.
I don't know if I should sit back with some popcorn or run away... LOL

I can not( to my knowledge) remove my comments! If you can, please remove all but the first one. I will sincerely appreciate it......

Dear KG, Pop that corn and spend an interesting evening watching the review comment pages. New folks are coming out of the woodwork, they are either on drugs, or are having serious issues with "anger management"! Sheesh...........Susiq2

When I hit 'new post" on the top right hand corner of our opening page, nothing happens.......Can you help, dear Mod?.Thanks..Obviously I have the ability to post "comments" :>)

See if this link will work:

I went to the top right hand corner of the blog, clicked on new post and the link is from the window that opened up. Good luck.

Susiq2,
I am surprised these angry psycho people don't post on the message boards rather than in the comments. I think it is okay to post an opinion about the reviews but I have to chuckle when they start bashing each other byt make fun of grammer, spelling issues and of course some dodo has to chime in with words that makes me think they have a thesaurus right next to them so they can sound more intelligent than everyone else.
It is so sad, but I check everyday to see if the bloodshed continues. :)

I agree. The comments section has become like the discussion board. SCARY! I won't name names, but a few do seem to just want to argue and throw hurtful words back and forth. I am not sure if this is because we got bored because HK hadn't posted any new reviews lately?? It happened before, too. I didn't count how many she posted today, but maybe that will put everyone back on the right track.

I did notice a few comments by FTF that were directed at the books and that made me uneasy. I know that with the exception of one book, (and that was about the pleasures of gang rape), I've tried to always differentiate between the books and their authors and Harriet Klausner's reviews.

On the other hand, I've been accused so many times of attacking books that I am reluctant to assume anything about someone else's motives. Susiq2 said that some don't seem to care about the reason we are commenting. But I think it's important to realize that we don't have a monopoly on this activity. While it may be possible that some of them just relish a good slagging match others may in fact be just as outraged by HK's fraudulence as we are.

KG,

This being what it is, an Internet discussion venue, the worst in people presents itself far more often than the best. The comments have been a touch nastier, perhaps, but then again, HK's little robots have become more persistent, as well. Fire with fire, as they say.

Grammar/spelling correction is again a matter of perspective, especially when "one's enemy" uses the same gambit. I lean towards it being a relatively low-yield exercise, personally (unless we're discussing our favorite pseudo-clever troll, MM).

Please refrain from adopting a recent troll's mantra as your own, though, in reference to the "thesaurus" argument. R. Edison (now going by "Rob") has engendered the favor of MM, which speaks volumes regarding the true worth of any of "his" opinions.

I'll give you my motivation for posting: 90% because my sense of what is right has been affronted, and 10% because I'm a little bit bored. Unfortunately, my posting methods trend towards 10% factual argument, and 90% ridiculing of some opponent. This is probably secondary to the very real sense of frustration I feel when the 100th sock-puppet idiot-defender uses the 1) "don't rip the book," 2) "Harriet a nice little lady," or the famous 3) "Harriet just stockpiles reviews and then releases them" arguments.

I mean, seriously! Just who the fuck are these mannequins who decide that defending these pathetic shill-shits is an important and worthwhile adventure? If, as some have speculated, these sock-puppets are merely aliases of the fraudulent reviewers, then mankind is truly screwed.

I think being befriended by MM carries with it it's own punishment. How would you like to be publicly linked with what I think we all would agree is one of the most insane internet voices we've ever encountered?

I do think the defenders of Harriet, the Knights of Klausner, have several motivations. For some, I think that they think aligning themselves with a high status person brings some of that status to their own pathetic lives, a type of "in crowd" seeker. Some of the others I think rush to her defense because they engage in similar practices in their own reviews, skimming, book jacket reading, shilling etc. They want to see this type of activity stopped because they fear they could be targeted next.

I wonder what is better to call some of these people, either sock puppets or trolls? I like sock puppets because I constantly think of that insult comic dog from Conan.:)
Another question I have and perhaps this should be a whole new post, if HK is indeed a one person reviewer, (which I personally think there is a network doing these reviews and posting it under her name) why doesn't she come on and defend herself? If that was me and all these people were making me such a big topic of conversation, I would at least chime in and defend myself. I have to believe HK or the reviewers that are her have to be reading the comments. When I put my reviews up on Amazon, I will check to see if anyone has written a comment for me. I noticed on the other message boards some of the top ten like Marc comes on and talks to people and he seems to be one of the favorites.
